“Perched high on a foothill over the French Broad River, this cozy log cabin has everything our family of four needed to chill out in the mountains. It’s been a long time since I slept in a cabin with actual chinking and Grandpa Dan’s checked all the boxes for a cozy cabin in the woods. The screened in porch over the river was our favorite place to play cards or read while listening to the nearby rapids. Every time we drove up or down the driveway, we’d stop at the river so the kids could skip rocks. We did a half day whitewater rafting trip with nearby French Broad Adventures (where we floated past the cabin). Had meals at Big Pillow (Hot Springs) and Old Marshall Jail and Mad Co Brewing (Marshall), loved these little towns, they are rebuilding after Helene and are each putting their best foot forward after being under dozens of feet of water. Don’t hesitate to visit this area, some amenities are limited but these towns are very much alive and welcoming.”
